God is Eternal

Sin

Statements

  • Sir/ma’am do you know that you’ve sinned against God?
  • We are sinners living in a sin-cursed world – but a new day is coming!
  • Come to God – this coming implies a leaving of something else – sin and self righteousness and idols; but come the right way – through Jesus Christ alone – and no other way
  • Mankind is separated from God because of sin
  • One sin cast the devil out of heaven. One sin cast Adam and Eve out of the Garden of Eden. One sin will cast you from the presence of God, too.

Quotes

  • Jonty Rhodes – “Men (and women too) are pulled away to sin through three main areas: ‘Guns, Gold and Girls.'” – playing off of the 1 John 2:16 (see scripture below).

Scripture

  • 1 John 2:16 – “For all that is in the world—the desires of the flesh and the desires of the eyes and pride of life—is not from the Father but is from the world.”

Final Judgement

Scripture

  • Hebrews 9:27-28 – “And just as it is appointed for man to die once, and after that comes judgment, so Christ, having been offered once to bear the sins of many, will appear a second time, not to deal with sin but to save those who are eagerly waiting for him.”
  • 2 Peter 2:4-10 – “For if God did not spare angels when they sinned, but cast them into hell and committed them to chains of gloomy darkness to be kept until the judgment; if he did not spare the ancient world, but preserved Noah, a herald of righteousness, with seven others, when he brought a flood upon the world of the ungodly; if by turning the cities of Sodom and Gomorrah to ashes he condemned them to extinction, making them an example of what is going to happen to the ungodly; and if he rescued righteous Lot, greatly distressed by the sensual conduct of the wicked (for as that righteous man lived among them day after day, he was tormenting his righteous soul over their lawless deeds that he saw and heard); then the Lord knows how to rescue the godly from trials, and to keep the unrighteous under punishment until the day of judgment, and especially those who indulge in the lust of defiling passion and despise authority.”

Quotes

  • Paul Washer says, “God does not throw sin into hell. He throws sinners into hell. And hell is not hell because God is not there. Hell is hell because God is there in the fullness of His wrath. This is the God of the scripture.”

Goodness

  • God is good. This very truth is what so many are hoping will free them when in fact it is the one thing that will condemn them. God is good and we are not. He is just and cannot simply let your sin go.
  • Paul Washer said – “What do I have to do to go to heaven? ‘Oh that’s easy, you have to be absolutely perfect from the moment of your birth to the moment of your death. In order to go to heaven you must be morally perfect without spit or blemish in any shape form or fashion to any degree. You must be morally perfect from the moment of birth to the moment of death.’”
  • “Who here believes they are a good enough person and doesn’t need Jesus as a crutch to get into heaven?”

God is Patient

  • 2 Peter 3:9 – “The Lord is not slow to fulfill his promise as some count slowness, but is patient toward you, not wishing that any should perish, but that all should reach repentance.”
